Children of God

George MacDonald's masterful sermon on being a child of God has been my focus of study recently. The doctrine of adoption is widespread, but largely misunderstood, I believe.

Take some time (you'll need it) and enjoy the Scottish genius.

Yes, It is almost Christmas

It is hard to believe that another year is almost at end. Christmas is upon us again. It is suppose to be the most wonderful time of the year. It is different for everyone. Many people celebrate this time of year as just a holiday. I once heard that holiday was really holy day. It makes sense to me. I believe that this can be one of the most Holy Days of the year for those of us that want to honor the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth, God who came in the flesh.
Luke 2:1-20
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria)
3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem;(because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them ,Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the Highest and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17 And when they had seen it, they made it known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20 And the shepherds returned glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Christmas is important to all mankind because he died for all. He gives everyone the opportunity to receive Christ. His birth was celebrated by the angels themselves. They spread the news to the shepherds. It was proclaimed so that all would know that the Messiah had come. It is a time to praise and worship the Lord. To give God glory for His goodness and to thank Him for His mercy, sending Jesus as Savior. Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to all. A special Thank you to all of our Armed Forces especially to those serving over seas. May God's protection go with you. May Jesus Christ give you direction and all the guidance that you will need and His Angels surround you and keep you safe.

The Holy Ghost has come not only to be a comforter but as the third person of the Trinity he glorifies Jesus Christ. No one can say that Jesus Christ is God who came in the flesh unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to them. I can say that Jesus Christ is God who came in the flesh but how many people actually beleive it? We can also tell by a person's fruit what their walk with God is really like. We must test the spirits. We can not believe that everyone that says they are of God really are. I believe that The Comforter gives us discernment as well. We need the Comforter so we can know the truth. But there is the deciever, the destroyer, the killer, that is the enemy of God. He wants to steal the truth away from the believer in Jesus Christ. He wants the souls of every man, women, and child. If a person can't say that Jesus Christ of Nazareth came in the flesh then he has been deceived by the great deciever of all time. For those who don't believe they have become the enemy of God. They then belong to Satan. Many Christians today have been decieved into believing any miracle, anyone claimiing to be a Christian is of God and they do not test the spirits. It is crucial for a Christian to test the spirits. You wouldn't fill a bath tub full of hot water then step in. You would first test the water to make sure that it is not too hot. I have been told that everyone is decieved in some way. I believe that when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior that your eyes are opened to the truth but when you experience the Baptist of the Holy Ghost you have the Holy Ghost in your spirit and he reveals all things to you. You need not be decieved. The Bible says in the last days many will fall away from their faith. How can this happen? The enemy has apparently replaced the truth with lies. I think this will be the next avenue I will explore. I wonder if I should give examples of how I have experienced God in my life??? Let the Lord be magnified!

I've thinking alot about the peace that one gets when one is a Christian. The people of the world want peace. Look at all the turmoil going on in this world. The Middle East is in constant conflict. There is termination of people in the different nations. Wars are every where. Where is peace? It is lacking just about everywhere. The only way we can have peace is in our own hearts. That peace comes only from having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a peace that cannot be understood from people who have never experienced it. It is a peace that can never be explained. It can only be gotten by asking God for it. IF you have not asked Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior, then you must do so, then you can ask for the peace you need. It is a heart felt peace that passes all understanding. I have been very blessed to have experienced God's peace in my own heart.

Who has sent the Holy Ghost?

John 14:12-26 kjv

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do he shall do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If you love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; for but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you. and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: because I live, ye shall live also.
19 Yet in a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me;
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me; and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 Judas saith unto him,not Iscariot,Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings; and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring them all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Wow! If Jesus is the truth then this must all be true. We all need comfort sometimes. Jesus said he would pray the Father and he would give another comforter. He knew that he would be leaving the 12 disciples and that they would be needing a comforter. There were conditions that the disciples would have to meet. They must love Jesus and keep his words. Then they would make their abode with them. The Father would send the Holy Ghost and teach them all things and bring to their remembrance all things.

The great question is, Is this true for today? Many say no. Some say that the Bible is the infallible word of God. But that this was just for the disciples. Some people actually believe this can happen to all who believe that Jesus Christ of Nazareth was God who came in the Flesh if they will only ask and keep the conditions that Jesus set forth. How many Christians have really experienced this truth? Are there many people who have experienced real salvation? Do some people have the peace that Jesus speaks of in John 14:27? Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you, Let not your not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
